A Major Departure From Slow Play In Upcoming
2020 Kentucky Speedgolf Championships
Speedgolf USA announces a partnership with Wright Implement to boost the status of the 4th annual Speedgolf championship to the first-ever Major Championship on the Speedgolf USA Tour.
PROSPECT, KY, – Top professional and amateur Speedgolfers from across the nation will return to Louisville in mid-July to test their fitness, feel, and mental fortitude in the 2020 Kentucky Speedgolf Championships presented by Wright Implement.
Every second counts in Speedgolf – a lightning-fast version of the traditional game that challenges competitors to play their best round of golf as quickly and efficiently as possible. Speedgolf scores are calculated by adding together a player’s golf strokes and elapsed time. For example, a score of 90 in 60 minutes produces a Speedgolf Score of 150. In competition, the player with the lowest Speedgolf Score wins.
Speedgolf is governed by the 2020 Rules Of Golf, however, participants are required to carry all their equipment from start to finish – usually between four and six clubs in a lightweight bag.
This year’s tournament will include 9, 18, and 36 hole options as well as a 36 hole championship division, from which the first-ever major champion on the SGUSA Tour will emerge.
World Champion Jamie Young (2016), past US National Champion Wes Cupp (2018), and reigning US National Champion Jason Hawkins (2019) will headline the star-studded field in addition to 50 Speedgolf enthusiasts from the local area and across the nation.
This unique sporting event will be hosted at GlenOaks Country Club in Prospect, KY. The beautiful and challenging layout measures 5.3 miles and will require less than 1 hour for the fastest Speedgolfers to complete all 18 holes.
Spectators are encouraged to attend, and scoring volunteers are needed to ride in a cart and follow each Speedgolfer around the course. If you’re interested in volunteering, send an email to info@speedgolfusa.com.
