Bolds Gemini software is the fasting growing integrated security solution in the UK. IFSEC 2010 provides the perfect opportunity to see what Bold has been working on with the latest version of the product. The multi-protocol, Gemini MultiView CCTV management solution will be on the stand, easily and effectively managing several different manufacturers security products within a single user interface and database. Several useful new features have been added. For example, when an alarm event is received, a whole site view, as well as pre-alarm view can be generated, for comprehensive remote management. On screen point and click PTZ controls add to the operators ease of use. So, not only is it possible to handle many different CCTV systems within one system, but their individual functionalities are significantly enhanced when handled together within Gemini.

To maximise the systems usability, an unlimited number of different security systems can be associated with each site, such as multi-protocol intruder and fire alarms, together with CCTV, access control and lone worker protection devices. To add to these, Bold will be presenting the new Gemini geographical information module at IFSEC. The module is fully integrated and will support geographical location fixes for alarm events as well as people and asset tracking. For the first time, the control room operator will be able to handle alarms, view CCTV and interactive site plans, manage access control and mobile services all at one integrated workstation with one fluent user interface.

Bolds powerful new version of Gemini not only supports BS:5979 Cat II compliant alarm and video monitoring centres, but provides unique functionality for site management and interaction. Comprehensive reporting and scheduling delivers the right information at the right time and the secure web module enables customers to manage and administer their own sites.

Designed and developed using all Microsoft technologies, such as the .Net platform and SQL database schema, Gemini has been created with integration a designed in feature. There are high levels of interest in integrated security systems, driven by rationalisation and the availability of new technology. However, system integration is sometimes not considered at the product design stage and can often be something of an afterthought. There are no standards prescribing how security products from different manufacturers should interoperate, and similarly little guidance on how an alarm signal should be passed from, for example, a CCTV monitoring system to the control room.

As a result, many management programs offered as security solutions rely on XML formatted messages, SMS texting and email notification with jpegs. As these communication methods do not support alarm acknowledgement, there is a high risk of losing alarm signals, for example, when the email application crashes or when SMS network buffers text signals. Users are not always aware of the increased risks arising from the use of these communication methods, even when they are routinely used for monitoring intruder, fire and panic alarms. All Bold Gemini interfaces to third party products are completed and thoroughly tested in accordance with the manufacturers recommended SDK or other engineered solution to minimise this risk of signalling failure.

This is the 10th year that Bold have exhibited at IFSEC. Managing Director, Brian Kelly, said, The exhibition provides an excellent opportunity to meet with new and established clients from around the world, and to show the quality and functionality of our market leading Gemini security management software. In addition to the award winning Gemini software, Bold will also be presenting some of its innovative alarm communications products. We look forward to seeing you at our Stand D30 in Hall 4.
