Local Fire Heroes Help Raise almost £1000 For Cancer Charity

***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***

FIREFIGHTERS from Finchley joined a local campaign to help raise almost a thousand pounds for Marie Curie.
Whetstone based photographer - Mona Naem - who organised the local response to #thefrontstepsproject persuaded a team of firefighters from Finchley Fire Station to take part in a special photoshoot.  The endeavour is rapidly approaching a thousands pounds.

The photographer, who runs the family portrait business - Mona Naem Photography - said "the brave men and women of the Finchley Fire Brigade, consist of newcomers as well as more experienced staff who have been serving for nearly 20 years."  She said it was "clear to see they have a great team spirit and a camaraderie with one aim: to keep us all safe."

Fire brigades across the nation have been especially busy during the pandemic, as more people are at home and more concerns are rising due to uncertainty of people’s health and well being.  "It is therefore important to make sure that we are connected and looking after our neighbours and local communities."

The charity benefitting from the funds has been praised by Mona for the support it gave in helping to launch the local effort.  Mona said: "I'm really thrilled that Marie Curie wrote to me and were so supportive of what we were doing.  I was even more determined to help raise money for such an important cause during the pandemic, when I learned that a lot of the Community Fundraisers employed by Marie Curie, had to be furloughed in order to make sure that the charity could continue providing vital caring services."  Mona was told that the money raised so far, helps to fund almost 40 hours of nursing care.

Following the early success of the project with firefighters, local people across Finchley, Whetstone and Barnet are now being asked to help identify their community heroes, in a bid to help continue raising funds for Marie Curie. If you know of any local teams or community heroes that could be featured in a charitable photoshoot, then please get in touch.
